Super loud mac startup sound

Oh man, this is one of the funniest video clips. First this guy starts up his windows pc in a library and a couple of people get surprised by the sound. Then another starts up his mac and his startup sound is the longest and loudest I ever heard. The reaction of the people in the library is hysterical. I never even knew startup sounds could go for so long. Then I found out later, as I suspected at first, it was fake. Anyway, check out this footage. You will crack up. For sure.

Microsoft Xbox 360 price set

360 base modelXbox 360
Microsoft announced the prices for the Xbox 360. There's going to be two models. One model is priced at $299; which comes with a console, wired controller, ethernet cable, and cables. Then there's a $399 model which comes with a console, a wireless controller, a 20gb hard drive, a headset w/mic, ethernet cable, a wireless remote control, and some cables. I never was a fan of the Xbox and don't think will be, but I'll check out the 360 when a friend gets it. I'm a PS guy.

$50 Ibook

$50 Ibook stampede
You probably heard by now about the $50 Ibook. So up in Richmond, Virginia, a school district decided to get rid of their 4 year old Ibooks as fast as they could. They didn't expect such a chaos would occur. It's said more than 1000 people showed up with only 4 off-duty police cops. This "event" turned out to a total chaos. There was literally a stampede with everyone shoving people out of the way, yelling, and desperate to get their hands on this Ibook. Because of this, a woman was furious since her baby almost got tramples along with her stroller which was crushed. There was an elderly man who got shoved and fell to the ground from people shoving each other. Reports say a woman was so desperate to stay in line, she urinated on herself. This is just crazy. The price is luring but I wouldn't go as far as these people did.

Here the link to watch a clip of what happened. You'll see how crazy this was. Link of video

Sony Ericsson W800i

se w800i
Finally! I've been waiting a while for a release date on this phone. The dates set on August 26th for $499. The features I like on this phone is the 2.0 megapixel camera phone. That's awesome! Finally reached 2 megapixels in the states. I also like the coloring on this phone with a orange base like the w600i. The limit on the memory stick duo is upgraded on this phone (compared to other SE phones), with up to 1GB of memory. That's a lot of photos and music you can carry on your phone. I wonder if its supports video? I wanted to know if I can just pop in my 1GB memory stick duo that I use to watch videos on my psp and watch it on this phone. I hope that is the case. Other than that, this phones got everything you need. FM-radio, bluetooth, 34MB of memory plus 512MB memory stick duo.

Tivo download service

Tivo Download
Just read an article at Engadget about a download service with Tivo. They haven't officially released it yet and don't have many download content but soon enough there will be an option to download shows you want. My question is, do we really need this?

Ginger Ale secret

This comes from the Japanese show, "Trivia no Izumi" (トリビアの泉)It was something like, "If you leave ginger ale in the freezer for 90 minutes and take it out; as soon as you open it, it starts to freeze in a rapid rate". Just something I wanted to try out next time I have a bottle of ginger ale. So give it a try folks! (lol)

There's no release date yet for this Sony Ericsson W600i. This phone is a first walkman phone out in the states. Other than that, this phones pretty much fully loaded. It's got a music player, FM radio, 1.3 mega-pixel camera, bluetooth, good screen (like the lcd on the se s710a), gsm quad-band, etc. If you want to check out a review, click this.

Def Tech In-store Live!

Def Tech @ Apple store LIVE!
One of my favorite music groups, Def Tech, at the Apple store in Shibuya performed live at the Apple store. Check out the link here. Songs they performed:

- 2005.8.7 Live at Apple Store Shibuya Set List -
1. Cancio´n de la Expansio´n
2. High on Life
3. Quality Of Life
4. Deep Blue

Track 1 on this list is sold at the Japan Itunes music store. This song isn't released on cd yet. So I just tried to see if I can purchase it through itunes music store Japan (even though I knew it wouldn't work) and found out it could only be accessed in Japan. Damn (lol)

Apple Mighty Mouse

apple mightymouse
Apple released a two-button mouse. And how long did that take? It's even got a scroll wheel button (?). Check it out at Apple or at AppleInsider (photos) . I already have a microsoft wireless mouse that I'm happy with (I needed a scroll wheel) so I won't be getting this one yet. And they don't have a wireless option. Maybe when they release bluetooth version I'll get it.

Tekkeon Bluetooth Headset

Tekkeon Bluetooth Headset
Ever get pulled over for using a cell phone without a handsfree unit? Just pick up a bluetooth headset. You don't have to worry about wires since it's wireless (Up to 30 feet range). I just got a Tekkeon BTHS. I paired it with my Motorola V600 with just a few buttons.

First impressions on the headset were it's very small and light. Sound quality is pretty close to what I hear if I had the phone to my ear. It supports bluetooth versions v1.1 and v1.2. Compared to some of those really ugly ones, this one looks good. The talk time says up to 5 hours talk time and up to 120 hours standby time. I'll see if this is true.

Driver Issue

After I got my new Dell 20" Widescreen display, the current graphics card driver wasn't supporting the widescreen format and the native resolution. So I upraded the driver and got it working in widescreen format. Everything was fine except I ran into a problem. When I opened up wmp files and dvds files, the video looked distorted the color didn't look right. So I used windows system restore and got everything back to normal except for the resolution and no widescreen. So I tried uninstalling the stock driver and installing the new driver I downloaded from the manufacture's site. So luck. After searching through pages of google results, I found a solution for the wmp files. Thanks to a guy in the forum, all I had to do was in wmp go into "tools", "options", "performance", under "video acceleration", slide the bar from "full" to the middle part. That fixed it. I still had the video issue with dvds.

Looking over search results in google, nothing came up. I asked someone with lots of computer experience, he suggested I go to the manufacturer's site and search the forums. Why didn't I think of that? But thanks to him, I found someone in the forums with the same problem as I had:

Video overlay gamma values are too high with NVIDIA Forceware 77.72 display driver.

This is a known bug which has been fixed in the Forceware unified display driver version 77.76 and above. Please proceed to download the Forceware 77.76 display driver from the URL below:

Driver Update Version 77.76

After installing over the previous version, everything was fine. Yosha~! So whoever with an nvidia fx5200 and a Dell 2005FPW just install the driver in the link I posted.

Sony Ericsson S710a

I've been wanting this for so long, I decided to get it when I upgrade my current phone ( V600). The Sony Ericsson S710a . First off, it's got the best screen on a cell phone period. It's got almost all the features I need; including bluetooth, speakerphone, 1.3 megapixel camera, etc (except for a FM-tuner). When it's closed you don't see the keypad, but it swivels out both ways, you'd probably be able to open/close with one hand. It's the hottest phone ever. C'mon, you can't beat a Japanese manufactured phone. No question. The interface on this phone is awesome, as you would expect from a Japanese phone. I NEED this phone now!

Microsoft Windows Vista!

windows vista screenshot
No longer Microsoft's new OS will be called codename Longhorn. They announced the official name Vista. It's expected release date is early 2006. (We'll see) I don't expect to see huge improvements on security issues but I have to admit, I like the graphical interface.
