PlayStation 3 might be delayed?

ps3_right

"Sony Corp., which slashed its profit forecast yesterday, said it may not reach this year's shipment target for the PlayStation 3 game console because of a parts shortage in the Blu-ray high-definition disc drive.
Sony plans to ship two million PlayStation 3 players this year to the U.S. and Japan, and six million worldwide by March. The Tokyo-based company said yesterday annual profit would fall 35 percent to its lowest in five years on price cuts of the console in Japan and a recall of 9.6 million computer batteries".
"The honest answer is it's more of a target'' for PlayStation 3 shipments, Jack Tretton, co-chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment America, said yesterday in an interview. "Clearly we've had production issues.''

Hmm, Sony seems like they're having troubles these days with the PS3 and Location Free.

Sling looks like they're creating Slingplayer client for Palm OS

slingbox_palm
Good news Palm OS users! It seems like Sling is planning to release the Slingplayer client for Palm OS according to their packaging. I was also surprised and glad to see support or future release of Symbian. Everyone is still waiting for an official release for the Mac. Hey Sony, now I'm expecting updates from you guys .

Finally!

I was just checking up on the cingular website and found that finally, the Sony Ericsson W810i has been released. I really want the SE W900 or the W850, but since they are like $300~$500 on ebay unlocked, I can't afford them yet. I'm gonna have to just wait 'til the prices are reduced. I was surprised to see that the W810 is not a highly priced as I saw on Ebay, which was a little over $300. It's retailed for $199 but with a 2yr agreement, you get -$50 online discount and -$50 rebate. So you can get it for $100. Hmm, I just may upgrade to this phone.

Neon Tetras

neon tetras
Hey this is totally off topic from tech but I recently turned into a hobby aquarist. I'm a beginner of course and I recently got 6 neon tetras and they're awesome. It was unfortunate to find 2 dead the day after I got them. Those two were put into a quarantine tank as soon as I brought them home because they had damaged scales. So I ended up giving them a salt bath with 2 drops of quick cure. That's probably the cause of their death. I had learned the hard way, not to ever do that again. (The picture above isn't my tank, just showing the fish that I got. Wish it my setup)

iPod HiFi

ipod hifi
This was one of the things that I wasn't excited for at all. It was rumored to be released and it has. The Apple iPod HiFi. This was just a stupid move by Apple I thought. This thing isn't the usual well designed, well thought-out product from Apple. When I first saw this I thought ugly, big. Plus it's way too pricey at $349. C'mon Apple, you gotta be kiddin me. I don't understand why Apple would make an iPod speaker system now, so late in the game. And why would I get this over the Bose Sound Dock. The Bose Sound Dock is much slimmer, good audio, and it's fifty bucks cheaper at $299. This product is nothing new and personally would never buy it.

New Mac Mini

new mac mini
Everyone has been waiting for big announcements from Apple on Feb, 28th '06. Most of the rumor sites were expecting to see a dedicated (or "real") ipod video player with a bigger screen and a touch screen click wheel, an intel-based Ibook, Apple DVR with tivo like functionalities. Honestly, I was disappointed about the announcements because there weren't any "big" or new products. I doubted the release of the video ipod because they just released the ipod w/video not so long ago so they can make profits.

However, I was pretty excited and glad to see the new Mac Mini. The biggest updates to this Mac Mini are that it's got the Intel chip, and Front Row (Remote included). There are two models: the lower-end has a 1.5Ghz Intel Core Solo ($599) and the higher-end model with 1.66Ghz Intel Core Duo ($799) processor. Other updates to the new Mac Mini are:

* ILife '06
* Four USB ports
* Gigabit Ethernet
* Up to 2GB of DDR2 memory
* 2MB of L2 cache
* Dual layer dvd burner for $799 model
* 667Mhz FSB
* SATA HD

This is a nice update with new hardware which will make a big difference in speed. This is something I definately would like to purchase in the future but the higher end model is a big pricey for me. This adds another item on my wish list. Apple just keeps making the best hardware.

Sony Ericsson W810i

se w810
Just announced at CES '06 from Sony Ericsson, the W810i. This model is similar to the W800 spec wise with a couple of additions and changes. The W810 is black with orange accents and like the 800, a candy bar style phone. They've added quad-band and EDGE support. The specs on this phone are:

2 megapixel camera with autofocus and flashlight
1.9″ 176x220 pixel 262k color screen
Bluetooth
Memory Stick Duo Pro slot (20mb of internal memory).
512mb card included
Dedicated music buttons

The two things I would've wanted was a swivel design like the S710 & W600 and a bigger screen. Expect this phone in the first quarter of 2006 or in March 2006. Hope I get either this phone or the W800 as my next phone.
